Dining Room Updates

Back in September, my DH and I made the decision to add hardwoods to our dining/living room combo area. I cannot figure out, for the life of me, why builders put carpet in dining rooms!?!?!?!?!

With the new flooring, I really wanted to update the curtains and color scheme without having to change any paint. I found a fabric for new drapes, that I loved, but had to ensue on a wild goose chase to find it. It is nice when small victories are won. I then went to our local home fabric store and found some coordinating fabric to use on a table runner and to reupholster some chairs that were given to me at my mother's passing.

The living room is not yet done, but I wanted to share some photos of the new dining room. The curtains need to still be hemmed, but details...details :) I also made the centerpiece on the table, which is something that I had not done in a LONG time!

Thanks for looking!

Hey, the floors look very nice!
Yes, wooden floors in the dining room is a must. It can be very yucky to have food spills on light carpet. I don't get it either why builders do not automatically do it. I guess because they want you to upgrade as we did when we built. It should not be an upgrade for the dining room though. I mean really.

Awww, you finally finished the curtains. This is the fabric that you ordered from my neck of the woods? Congratulations on the completed job.
